The Technical Services Planning Committee worked with the Public Services Planning Committee to re-constitute the Format Integration Task Force. The charge of this group is to advise on the new/revised OPAC labels needed for the newly legal MARC tags resulting from the implementation of format integration. The Task Force has been asked to complete its work by April 1, 1997. They will make a recommendation to both Planning Committees. Upon acceptance, the recommendation will be forwarded to the Library Directors. Members of the Task Force are: Denice Bennett (Chair) - UF, Robena Cornwell - UF, Linda Smith - UNF, Margaret Kaus - UNF, Debbie Maher - FSU and Maggie Hogue - FCLA. The Technical Services Planning Committee worked with the Public Services Planning Committee to create the Joint Task Force on Government Documents. That Task Force has been asked to recommend improvements to record loading for federal documents. They will gauge interest among SUS depository libraries for changing from OCLC's GovDoc Tape Load Service to Marcive Inc.'s GPO Database Service. The Task Force will outline the differences between the two services, including a cost comparison, and will determine the feasibility and necessity of including the OCLC holdings symbol on the bibliographic records from the Marcive GPO Database Tape Load Service. The Task Force will report to the joint Planning Committees by February 28, 1997 with recommendations on how to proceed with the tape loading of U.S. Government Documents. After review by the joint committees, a recommendation will be forwarded to the Library Directors. Members of the Task Force are: Cheryl McCoy - USF, Jim Michael - USF, Jan Swanbeck - UF, Sherry Mosley - FIU and Judy Depew - FSU. The Co-Chairs of the Technical Services Planning Committee met with the Chair of the SUS Implementation Planning Committee on January 24, 1997, in Gainesville, to discuss some concerns expressed by the Library Directors regarding overlap in recommended task forces. At that meeting, the Chairs agreed that the Integrated Library System Review Task Force, being recommended by the SUS Planning Implementation Committee, will cover the concern for the two task forces which the TSPC had recommended: Binding and Serials Checkin Modile.
