Interlibrary Loan Subcommittee

The Interlibrary Library Loan Subcommittee will serve as an instrument of the SUS Public Services Planning Committee to provide input relating to the sharing of library materials among the SUS libraries.

The Subcommittee will consult with the Circulation Services Subcommittee, FCLA staff, and other committees and subcommittees as appropriate.

The chair of the SUS Expedited Loan Subcommittee will conduct the Subcommittee's organizational meeting, at which time guidelines will be developed for chair selection and other ongoing subcommittee functions.

COMPOSITION:The Subcommittee will consist of principal Interlibrary Loan/Document Access representatives from each SUS institution. An FCLA representative will serve on the Subcommittee as a technical advisor.

Mission
The Subcommittee will be responsible for articulating needs and making recommendations concerning the efficient, rapid, and secure access and delivery of materials between SUS libraries. Specific objectives include the following:

Recommend alternative ways of obtaining and delivering information such as commercial document delivery services.

Assume the charge and responsibilities of the SUS Expedited Loan Committee, including developing specifications for a patron initiated SUS interlibrary loan system.

Serve as a resource group for current developments and trends in interlibrary loan and document sharing on a state, national and international level, including OCLC and other resource sharing networks.

Provide a forum for discussion and sharing of information regarding policies, processes and other functions associated with interlibrary sharing of resources.

The Subcommittee will present its recommendations and proposals to the SUS Public Services Planning Committee.
