Patron Verification
  1. 1. Method of access
    LUIS/LINCC menu screen (Web technology underneath)

  4. 4. Process

    a. Host library will create local borrower record using selected data and set own expire date.

    b. Host library will assign borrower category from predefined new categories:

    i.) in LINCC - for SUS: Inst & category; for CCs: Inst & class
    ii.) in LUIS - for SUS: undergrad, grad, staff, faculty; for CCs: student, staff, faculty (add new field for home institution)

    c. As a local policy matter, host library may or may not create a separate ID card or number for a hosted borrower. If not, host library will need to use same ID as in home patron file.

  5. 5. Hours of operation for verification
    LUIS: up during all scheduled SUS & CC library hours
    LINCC: same
  6. 6. If computer verification not possible, local policy about lending to hosted borrower applies.
Charge/Renewal/Discharge
  1. Will take place according to the policies of the host library for the different categories of hosted borrowers.
  2. If item returned to non-owning library, put date returned or date found on shelf, on a slip in the book and return by DLLI document delivery if possible.
  3. Borrowers will need to contact the host library for renewals.
  4. Host library follows its own policies and procedures for these renewals.
Overdue Notices
Notices will be sent by host library to borrower according to host library policy.
Fines
  1. Host library policy and procedures apply.
  2. If host library desires to recover fines owed,

    a. Host library will use standard protocols as per local procedures.

    b. If host library standard protocols are not effective, then host library has option of notifying home library for assistance in bringing issue to closure. Home library will restrict library borrowing privileges until host library is satisfied. Host library will supply supporting documentation.

Billing for Lost, Damaged or Claims returned items
1. Host library policy and procedures apply.

2. When host library requests restitution (preferably return of lost item in good condition or compensation).

a. Host library will use standard protocols as per local procedures.

b. If host standard protocols are not effective, then host library has option of notifying home library for assistance. Host library will supply appropriate documentation to home library to support its claim.

c. If home library assistance is unproductive, then home library will reimburse host library for the lost/damaged materials. Host library will again provide supporting documentation.

d. Home library follows its own policies and procedures to recover reimbursed costs from delinquent borrower.

3. If lost item is returned after billing, item is returned to the host library which will then follow local policies and procedures for crediting.

Statistics
  1. Statistics will be shared monthly between FCLA and CCLA.
